The idea behind the Local Legends series is to showcase the pool of incredibly talented, successful and innovative men and women of the music industry who live in our neighbourhood and who are happy to share their thoughts with an intimate audience. It's also to inspire the younger members of our community and shed some light on what it's like to be a successful performer, producer, DJ, label boss, technology innovator or promoter. The format is an informal fireside chat in the excellent local Moncada Brewery - with RSF patron and FRUKT Founder Jack Horner inviting the guests to share stories of how it all began for them, the ups and downs of their journey to the top and what keeps them there.
In the first of the series, we invited BBC Radio 6 DJ Shaun Keaveny and Stanton Warrior's DJ Dom Butler who gave us highly entertaining insights into their respective roles. Shaun has been the Radio 6 Breakfast show DJ for almost 10 years whilst DJ and producer Dom has been releasing records since 1997 and has remixed The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and Jay-Z, tours the world and now runs a successful label Punks from Kensal Rise. The evening was rounded off by a spine-tingling acoustic set by Cold Red Light's Gaby Monaghan.
